About Dianoetic

Dianoetic is a data and research consultancy dedicated to helping organisations turn complexity into clarity.
We specialise in building systems, models, and strategies that are rigorous, human‑centred, and built to last — especially in resource‑constrained environments.

Our work is grounded in the belief that good data is not just about precision, but about purpose.
Whether supporting policy design, program evaluation, or organisational infrastructure, we deliver solutions that are technically sound, context‑aware, and genuinely useful.

Pooya Karambakhsh

Economist · Data Strategist · Researcher

I've spent close to two decades working at the intersection of engineering, research, and data — across nonprofits, universities, advocacy organisations, and public programs. My background is a bit unusual: degrees in Civil and Geotechnical Engineering alongside a PhD in Political Economy. In practice, that means I'm comfortable with both the technical plumbing and the organisational context it sits in.

Most of my work has been in resource-constrained environments, which I've come to appreciate. It keeps the focus on what actually matters: systems that are useful, maintainable, and built around how people really work — not how they're supposed to work on paper.

I've worked on everything from CRM implementation and data integration to research analysis and capacity building. I'm happiest when I'm helping a team get clarity on a problem they've been stuck on for a while.

A Cross‑Disciplinary Perspective

Pooya’s academic and professional journey connects technical precision with big‑picture thinking.
He has worked across domains — from disaster recovery and program evaluation to national and international fundraising and advocacy — always with the same goal: to make data work for people.

Good consulting isn’t about selling solutions — it’s about understanding problems.

After eight years implementing CRMs across nonprofits and public organisations, I’ve watched the same expensive mistake play out repeatedly: organisations blame the technology when the real problem is governance, process, or capacity. Most don’t need a new system. They need clarity about what problem they’re actually solving.
